Seek What You Love
From Song of Solomon 3
Hope from Today’s Reading:
”When I found him whom my soul loves ... I held him, and would not let him go.” (Song of Solomon 3:4 ESV)
Before she found ”him whom [her] soul loves,” she searched for him twice (vv. 1, 2) and didn’t find him. But she didn’t give up.
I’m not sure I do this well. It’s too easy to talk myself out of the search, believing that I’ll never find what I’m looking for or that, even if I do, it won’t work out. I’ll be rejected, or it won’t turn out like I hoped, or things will eventually fall apart ... so what’s the point?
”Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things” (1 Corinthians 13:7).
Keep believing, friend. Don’t talk yourself out of going after what you love. Seek; seek again; seek until you find. Then don’t let go. And we’re not just talking about relationships here, though I’m not ruling those out. If there’s some person, if there’s some dream, if there’s some goal that’s tugging at your heart, believe you can get there. It probably won’t work out the way you thought, hoped, or planned. With God, I’m guessing it will be even better.
