From Psalm 62
Hope from Today’s Reading:
”I find rest in God; only he can save me. He is my rock and my salvation. He is my defender; I will not be defeated.” (Psalm 62:1-2 NCV)
Some seasons, temptation is stronger than others. Right now, for me, temptation is strong to choose what feels good instead of what honors God. To choose what’s easy instead of what’s right. Right now, Satan is working, and if I’m honest, it feels like he’s winning.
If you’d asked me a few months ago, I’d have told you I was strong. I can handle it. Ask me now, and I’m very much aware of what Paul said: ”I do not understand the things I do. I do not do what I want to do, and I do the things I hate” (Romans 7:15).
I’m very aware right now of my weaknesses.
But a verse like this one gives me hope. I can survive a season of temptation, or trial, or whatever may come, because I’m not depending on myself. I’m depending on my Defender. I’m going to keep looking to Him. Keep leaning on Him. Keep trying. Keep working. Keep fighting. ”He is my defender; I will not be defeated.”
I pray you will let Him be your Defender too.
