From Psalm 77
Hope from Today’s Reading:
”You made a way through the sea and paths through the deep waters, but your footprints were not seen.” (Psalm 77:19 NCV)
Reading this makes me wonder: How many times has He made a way for me, carved a path for me, but I didn't thank Him or give Him credit because "His footprints were not seen"?
Isaiah 64:4 says, "From long ago no one has ever heard of a God like you. No one has ever seen a God besides you, who helps the people who trust you." God works for us, through us, and in us every day, all the time. He helps His people in ways we cannot see and will never fully understand. His footprints are not seen.
Yet I don't think He minds. He teaches His followers, after all, to be just as inconspicuous in their good works (e.g., Matthew 6:3–4). So it makes sense that He doesn't ring a bell or grab us by the collar, announcing what He has done to help.
But we, as people of faith—people with eyes to see the unseen (2 Corinthians 4:18)—can be different in a world that largely ignores God's good works. Praise Him. Tell what He has done. Give Him credit. Even when you cannot see the footprint, have faith and give thanks.
